As 2024 winds down, I’ve been reflecting on what has truly been an interesting and transformative year. There have been moments of triumph, plenty of challenges, and an equal number of opportunities to rethink and refocus. Through it all, however, one thing has been made abundantly clear—and that is the continued growth of this platform. It’s been steady, stable, and for that, I am grateful.
In the latter half of this year, readership pretty much doubled. Growth in any form (especially in such a saturated space) is something to celebrate. But I find pride a tricky thing to embrace. Creative work rarely feels done. As anyone who’s ever created something knows, there’s always a lingering sense that it could be better, more refined. Loose ends are everywhere, and the pursuit of improvement never really ends.
But maybe that’s part of the beauty, too—the process, the constant questioning.
For me, it’s never been about the numbers. It’s the steadfast loyalty of an audience, no matter how big or small, and the shared appreciation for a given interest that matter most. Measuring things in this way reminds me why I started HAFH and why it feels so worthwhile to keep building it in a space where content feels endless.
One of the most rewarding parts of this year has been shaping HAFH into something that feels more authentic and intentional to me. At its heart, this brand is rooted in a very simple desire; to help people find meaningful experiences through considered choices. The new updates to the website coming next year will reflect this ethos in a much clearer way.
It’s funny. When I initially ideated HAFH, I envisioned a platform focused on North America, a region whose boutique hotels and understated approach to luxury felt somewhat overlooked. Along the way, I thought a more global approach might be better. But I was wrong. I should’ve trusted my gut.
Trusting your gut is imperative when you’re going about something creative. It’s almost always the right thing to do. Don’t be swayed by the noises outside.
I want this space to be about creating something that resonates with you. The process is rarely linear, but I’m so happy and curious about what we’re building together.
On a personal note, the end of this year marks a new chapter for me. As I shared last week, I’m moving to Texas. As expected, it’s been a busy month, filled with anticipation and hope for what’s to come. I’ve heard much about Austin’s creative energy, and I’m looking forward to seeing it myself.
There won’t be a newsletter next week, but I’ll be back in January with more to share. Until then, I hope this festive season brings you moments of pure joy and celebration, no matter where you are and what you’re doing. Above all, may it be a time of peace.
Thank you, again, for being a part of this little section of the Internet. It truly wouldn’t be what it is without you. I’m wishing you a safe and sparkling holiday, and here’s to a bright and beautiful 2025!
